Play. Connect. Thrive.

Empowering neurodiverse kids and their families by supporting sensory processing, motor skills, attention, and social engagement through innovative play-based therapy and home visits in the greater Seattle area.

Child-led, Family Centered, Home-based Therapy

Research shows that kids learn more through playful interactions than direct teaching. Emotions enhance memory, making learning through play more likely to stick.

Relationships drive our emotions. Children need connection, which is best met through playful interactions. Play signals safety, love, and the importance of their ideas while fulfilling their need for independent choices.

At Rumpus Occupational Therapy, I support sensory processing, attention, motor skills, and social engagement in neurodiverse children and their families. Together, we can help your child discover new ways of interacting, moving, and regulating their body, leading to a more confident, connected child.

Services

  • Sensory Processing & Regulation

Sensory processing is the body’s ability to take in information from our senses, combining and filtering to form a clear picture of our environment. Our brains and bodies work together using our senses to balance alertness with a sense of calm. That balance is called regulation. Let’s explore your child’s sensory preferences to help them feel calm, connected, and joyful.

  • Movement & Motor Planning

Kids who struggle to join in at recess or PE, who have difficulty learning new skills, or who are easily frustrated during daily routines are often masking challenges with movement and motor planning. The good news is that all of these skills can be supported through play.

  • Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

Does your child or teen show intense emotional reactions, struggle to stay calm or to connect emotionally, or become panicked or flooded when their senses are overwhelmed? These are common signs of a overloaded nervous system. I am specially trained in the Safe and Sound Protocol, a therapeutic approach that uses music to stimulate the vagus nerve and promote autonomic regulation.

  • Feeding Support

Does your child struggle to try new foods? Do they seem rigid or picky, perhaps even refusing to be at the same table as an unfamiliar food? I can help.

  • LGBTQIA2S+ Affirming Care

In the past (and I speak from experience), healthcare has not always been a safe place for queer and trans kids and their families. I’m looking to change that. At Rumpus OT, therapy will be affirming and joyful for your child and your family.

  • Parent Coaching

Parenting is messy, vulnerable, joyful, and transformative. The one thing parenting should not be isolating, and yet this is one of the most common descriptors I hear from parents of children with special needs. As a pediatric OT trained in reflective practice and parent coaching, I am here to give you the support you need.

Schedule an Evaluation

Delve deeper into your child’s strengths and areas for growth by scheduling an evaluation.

You’ll get:

Detailed Evaluation: Customized for each child, including standardized assessments, clinical observation, and parent interviewing.

Report: A detailed report provided post-evaluation, guiding your child’s treatment.

Parent Meeting: One-hour session to discuss evaluation results and create a treatment plan with individualized goals.

Goals are reviewed during each session. A more in-depth review happens every six weeks in a parent meeting.
